BE BRIGHT
Be Bright. Be Bold.
The inspiration behind this collection was to think of an emotional and sensible time in one's life. Mine being the birth of my little sister. This is a womenswear collection from the lens of childrenswear. I wanted the designs to translate playfulness, adventurous, and joy. Because that is what she brought into my life at such a dark time. Now a days we, women, search for garments with that playfulness in our clothing. It brings that nostalgia, and nothing excites us more than real pockets! A reminder of those innocent times as an adventurous child and stuffing things in our pockets. I hope this collection brings that brightness in your life too.
A Resort wear collection inspired by the beautiful and intriguing quetzal bird.
The quetzal is found around central america and was very sacred to Aztec and Mayan culture. Due to their beauty, the quetzal was a form of luxury to the Aztec and Mayan rulers. They would only use the quetzal for their feathers in their headdress and were then let free.
What I envisioned for this collection was a hard working woman packing her bags and heading someplace warm. A getaway from her current cold environment and exchanging her phone for a good book to read on the beach.
While vacationing by the beach you want something lightweight, fun, and carefree. You want to feel luxurious and like royalty. That’s what this collection defines. You have pieces that are interchangeable in this collection. Pieces that are versatile easy to wear from day to night. Fun, colorful, and intriguing like the quetzal bird.
DISTORTION
This collection is based on creating an extension of the brand COS. COS is known for being a contemporary brand that works to create long lasting staple pieces in a more modern artistic approach. Knowing the COS customer is not afraid of trying different shapes in their clothing as long as that practical essence is still there, I knew I wanted to play around with the shape and color. Therefore, the approach for this collection was to have something a little bit more playful yet still reflect the core customer of COS. So, this idea of distortion came up. As which distortion in clothing can appear in endless ways, I felt that pleats would be the acceptable way approach for this customer. Bringing in a more colorful palette and a rather interesting way of manipulating the fabric and shape would be the way to go.
ELECTRIC
This collection’s inspiration was to capture the essence of a thunderstorm. A pastel color palette involving lilac and peachy colors amidst baby blues and charcoal grays. Voluminous clouds translating to voluminous and oversized garments with the combination of organza and tulle. And the interpretation of lightning bolts with asymmetry and color blocking allowed me to play around with silhouettes.
THE HORIZON
A collection of machine knitting samples inspired by the horizon found when looking at an ocean. The depth and perception of no end following a straight horizon line.
